The Power of Decisions

1 min read

The success we achieve is an expression of the decisions we make. How and why we make our decisions is a complicated matter, but for the purpose of this writing, we will focus on three decision-making facts:

  • Some people make decisions based on what they know, viewing and experiencing life through their mind.

  • Many people make decisions based on how they feel, viewing and experiencing life through their heart.

  • Most people make decisions based on how they feel about what they know, viewing and experiencing life through both their mind and heart.

People in all three groups look for reassurance from those they respect.

Suggestions

When people look to you for reassurance, you must have the knowledge needed to offer it. You must clear your mind, heart, and personal agenda, and then follow the feel, felt, found approach to giving reassurance.

Specifically, you must find a way to honestly and sincerely communicate:

  • I understand how you feel.

  • Others have felt the same way.

  • This is what I have found. Then share your personal truth.

When you honestly and sincerely communicate these three things, you help people feel the reassurance they need to move forward with their decisions.

Truth

Your role in helping people make good decisions cannot be minimized.

Bottom Line

Your job is to follow the feel, felt, found approach to reassurance and help people move forward with confidence in their decisions.

Homework

• What one thing do I need to stop doing?

• What one thing do I need to keep doing?

• What one thing do I need to start doing?
